John Kerry…

Sen. John Kerry apologized Wednesday for a "botched joke" that suggested U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated, as Republicans continued to assail him and one Democrat returned a political contribution

I’m going to make this short and to the point, and since this issue is called “Slam Book”. Let me put John Kerry on blast!!

Why and the heck would you open your big A@* mouth and talk about the young men and women who are fighting this wack A@*  war (yes, it is wack), why would he make commentary a week from voting where the democratic party is tying to get back into white house positions. What a true A- hole!!!!

Yes, I said it and what!!

Now because I have a very close loved one who has signed up for the services; at the end of the day we have to remember if these young people were not over there in all these countries protecting us who are living lovely in our condos, or debating if they should have Mocha with their cappuccino- come on give me a freaking break!

I think all of these wack A@* politicians should give up one of their off springs as a sacrifice to serve for this country. How can we have politicians to regulate the laws but don’t know what it takes to serve and protect this country. I wanted John Kerry to win some years back as a better choice than the monkey we have presently; however the bottom line is they all are the same. The bottom line we’re all human and we all have a tendency to put our foot and our mouths - all the way up in there!

Well Mr. Kerry has done it and the apology in my opinion makes the whole comment even more ridiculous

Lord help us!

PLEASE

 Short Story

Let There be Ten

By Linda Mckeiver

My job is to clean up the church for service tomorrow.  I love being in the sanctuary when no one is here.  Nobody knows it, but this is the reason I don’t ask anyone to help me.  It’s so quiet and peaceful.  There’s a stillness that would be lost if others were here talking and laughing and carrying on.  Everyone has their special place where they feel God’s presence.  This is mine.  So every time someone asks if they can help, I quickly inform them that it isn’t necessary.  I can do it myself!

Pastor (bless his heart) is always telling me to lock the door when I’m here by myself, but I don’t think a church should be locked up.  Suppose somebody needs to come in and pray.  I remember when I was a kid (yeah, yeah, back in the stone ages), churches were always open.  You could just come inside and sit, pray or just come in out of the cold.  Not anymore.  Everything is locked up tight.  You have to wait until Wednesdays, Fridays or Sundays for the church to be open.  I guess if you needed Him on any other day you’d have to send an email.  Oh boy, I make myself laugh sometime!

Wow, these pews seem to need extra polish today.  My back and arms are getting pretty tired.  I’ll just sit for a minute and catch my breath.  The doctor told me to get some exercise for the arthritis so what better way than this.

Oh my, is that a draft?  I know I didn’t leave the doors open.  Maybe the wind blew it.  Girl, stop it!  You know you didn’t leave the door open.  Those doors are made of wood thicker than your arm.  Short of a hurricane wind nothing could open them.  Hold on now, my eyes ain’t as good as they used to be but is that a man standing back there?  Maybe I should have listened about locked doors.  Wonder what he wants though?

“I’m sorry sir, but there’s no service today.  Please come back tomorrow.  Sunday school is at 9:30 and Worship Service is at 11.”

He stands there staring at me like I’m stupid or something.  (OK, I’ve got a live one here folks.)  “What are you doing here then?” he asks.  “Who me?” (No, you idiot, one of the other five people standing in the room with you.)  “I’m cleaning the church for tomorrow morning services.”

“Why isn’t anyone here with you?  This is a very big place. With the pain you suffer because of your arthritis many others should be here with you”, he says.

“I’m sure they would if they could.  People have so many things to do, especially people who work.  I’m retired so I have lots of free time.  Saturday is about the only day working people have to take care of their own stuff” I reply.  “So, if you’ll excuse me I have to get finished.  Have a blessed day!”

Turning to get back to work I notice him staring at me.  I’m starting to think that maybe he has nowhere to go, or that he came in to pray.  “Would you like to sit here for awhile and get out of the cold?”  “Yes, if you don’t mind.  I know you like being here by yourself enjoying the peacefulness of the church,” he answers.  Off he goes and sits in one of the pews just staring at the altar.  It appears like he’s not even moving.

“Do you think there are any righteous people left in the world?” he asked.  Another hour had passed and to be honest I had completely forgotten he was there.  I had been working and just singing hymns of praise. I’m not even sure at what point my arms stopped hurting, but they hadn’t felt this good in years.   I jumped scared because I forgot he was there.

“I’m sure there are some.  Can’t say I know any though, I say laughing.  Sadly he smiles.  His eyes seem to be staring at a place only he can see.

In an instant I find myself in an ancient place where a man sits by the entrance of a tent.  He sees three men approaching him and rises to greet them.  He invites then to rest, have a drink and food.  He realizes that he is in the presence of something great and is humbled by their visit because he knows that they didn’t have to come this way.  Somehow he knows that their arrival has some significance.  He learns that they are on their way to Sodom.  His interest becomes greater since that is the place his nephew and family live.  One of the visitors explains that a great cry had come up from Sodom.  Their sin had overtaken them.  These men were going to see if any form of righteousness resided in that place.  If none could be found, they would deal with it accordingly.

He inquires of the Lord, “Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?”  And the Lord answered, “If I find fifty, I will spare Sodom.” The man inquires again and again until the Lord says that he will spare Sodom if he finds ten righteous people.

The scene shifts and destruction is all around.  Fire and collapsed buildings are everywhere.  People are screaming and running back and forth.  On a hill, I see four people.  No, not four but three.  Three people running away, not bothering to look back.  The forth is standing still.  Like in the movies, the scene moves closer and I see that it’s a woman.  No, it’s a statue facing the direction that the others are fleeing from.

I blink and I’m back in church holding a cloth in one hand and polish in another.  My visitor is sadly looking at me.  There are tears in his eyes.  He sighs and it’s like a crushing feeling of heaviness all around me.  Slowly he stands and begins to walk towards the door.  As he approaches the door, he turns and says “People have again taken on the sin of wickedness, just like in Sodom.  Year by year they become more depraved, immoral and polluted.  They no longer even try to live holy.  They have made the Father’s house a place of corruption and scorn to everyone.  Even their leaders have only a form of godliness.  A great cry has been heard by the Father, judgment is coming.”

“Will the righteous be destroyed along with the wicked?  I asked.

Sadly He smiles, “Not if ten can be found.”  He turns and walks out the door.

“Lord, please let there be ten…”
