Nosey People
There are various levels of nosiness. I’ll even admit
that I’m quick to pull back a blind if I hear commotion
coming from outside and not so much to be in someone’s
business, but more so to see how and if this commotion
will affect my family or me. You always have to be
prepared, but what I want to discuss is those people who
are straight-up nosy and hold a lack of tact.
I heard a story recently how a very inquisitive neighbor
constantly pesters this particular source, by asking
questions or trying to get into personal business in a
very tact-less manner. This nosy neighbor wanted to know
if the source went to work that day….
Like okay what business to this neighbor I really don’t
know, but after being bombarded with the question 3
times and being ignored by my source. The neighbor had
the audacity to get in the face of the subject as if
perhaps they didn’t hear the 1st or 3rd
time…
The point to this vent is when will people realize some
questions are just off limits- period?! I’ve had one or
two people in my lifetime who were that bold to ask me
how much money I made at one employment… like those are
things not everyone is comfortable sharing with others.
Is there a competition or something? Why would you ask
for the exact dollar amount?
Nosy people can be a real turn off and usually don’t
pick up when they’ve crossed the line, until your
response to them has become gruff. What I find rather
interesting is when the questions are turned back for
them to answer they make it known that “you have indeed”
crossed the line.
Let’s remember that old mantra….
Do on to others as you would like them to do unto you

Swine Flu
This whole swine epidemic seems very suspect to me….
Like how it is possible in these days and times for a
virus to spread so rapidly that was supposedly a problem
started out of Mexico, and now has spread throughout the
world? I mean we’re not even hearing about Mexico so
much anymore, better yet we’re not even hearing much on
mainstream news about the drug trafficking problem that
first awaken many to the problems in Mexico (the
favorite Spring/ Summer spot for vacationers). I hear
there’s still a big problem in Mexico, but it‘s been
swept under the rug to focus our attentions now on the
swine flu. I tell ya…
Just be careful and be mindful to wash your hands and
cover your mouth if you’re sick. Whether the origins of
these crazy viruses are suspicious, we must all remember
to hold common-sense when battling any kind and type of
illness that can be controlled.
Anyone affected by this or if you have a loved one with
this- I say to you the Laundry Source will keep
you in our prayers- but please always see the bigger
picture to these outbreaks, and that is nothing is
foolproof, we’re all susceptible to some crazy and
questionable health queries that have a way of being
“all of a sudden” instances.
Be alert and be active!
Influenza A (H1N1)
is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A
influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in
pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human
infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have
been reported to spread from person-to-person, but in
the past, this transmission was limited and not
sustained beyond a few people.
The World Health Organization (WHO) posted a very
interesting report on May 11,
Assessing the Severity of
an Influenza Pandemic. The report describes
the factors that contribute to pandemics and offers
input on the current situation.
Spread of influenza A
(H1N1) is thought to be happening the same
way that seasonal flu spreads; mainly from person to
person through coughing or sneezing of people with
influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by
touching something with flu viruses on it and then
touching their mouth or nose. H1N1 flu viruses are NOT
spread by food. You cannot get this influenza from
eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled
and cooked pork products is safe.
Infected people may be able to infect others beginning
1 day before symptoms
develop and up to 7 or more days after becoming sick.
Children, especially younger children, might potentially
be contagious for longer periods.
Germs can be spread when a person touches something that
is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her
eyes, nose, or mouth. Droplets from a cough or sneeze
of an infected person move through the air. Germs can
be spread when a person touches respiratory droplets
from another person on a surface and then touches their
own eyes, mouth or nose before washing their hands.
CDC recommends that
affected states with at
least one laboratory-confirmed case of swine influenza A
(H1N1) virus infection consider activating community
mitigation interventions for affected communities.
For those states WITHOUT laboratory-confirmed cases of
H1N1 virus, use these everyday steps to protect your
health:
-
Cover your nose and
mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw
the tissue in the trash after you use it.
-
Wash your hands often
with soap and water, especially after you cough or
sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also
effective.
-
Avoid touching your
eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
-
Try to avoid close
contact with sick people.
-
If you get sick with
influenza,
CDC recommends
that you stay home from work or school and limit
contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Wails of
the Streets
Another victim to the streets is a constant reminder
that there are rules to this game called success. The
number one is rule is that you cannot continue your
street life while trying to make a new life as a
successful artist, and it doesn’t matter what capacity
that success may fall into. Many of our young Black men
hold special talents in the more popular (some people
can’t believe it’s more to us than these options) money
maker talents of sports and music, can’t seem to leave
the street and the negative connotation that are usually
involved when you can’t leave these elements to the
curve. And may I say it’s usually those with talents in
sports and music that get into this struggle of leaving
the negative and following the positive. This I’m sure
is not a problem with those who may have grown up in the
hood and became Lawyers, Teachers, Doctors, Publishers,
Dancers, Accountants, Etc..,
What is it about sports and music, and let me be
specific –basketball players, football players, rappers
that can’t shake the street off of them. I often sit and
shake my head when I see another brother that is on the
news because of a bad decision. Whereas, another bad
decision that puts their livelihood in question when
it’s all done and said. I’ve always questioned this
especially when there always seems to be a trend with
many of these young sports players and rappers, who tend
to get into bizarre situations when their in the company
of their people from the old neighborhood. I mean if
you’re making millions of dollars why the pressure to “keep
it real” and stay in cahoots with those that may
hate that you made it out and they didn’t.
Many times those same people you may have been tight
with were not really your friend’s anyway, but really
your associates.
It bothered me when the world country reacted so
negatively with Michael Vicks and his so-called
friends were busted in a dog fighting ring in his home.
Now, when the story broke I recalled he was not the only
culprit but did admit that he provided much of the money
for this activity. When the story broke- his so called
friends/ associates
Were the actual culprits, but as we see in his case he
was aware of activities and just as guilty and the
bottom line his name was attached in this shenanigan, so
who goes down, or is more likely to get penalized? You
guessed it good ole Vicks…
I don’t agree with dog-fighting, but let’s not get this
twisted this is not like he wasInvolved in mutilation of
a life- he was penalized lovely with a harsh NFL
suspension, barred from training camp, recovery of a
portion of his bonus, reimbursement of $19 million
dollars to his team the Falcons, and lastly but not
really least federally criminally prosecuted that held a
5-year prison term, but with his lawyers he worked out a
deal. So where does this lead him? I hope he took that
time away to re-think who his friends are and really
think about the importance of decision making, and the
affects it can hold in making and breaking ones bright
future.
As I end this I give condolences to another bright star
brought down because of the “Ghetto Loyalty” so many
hold dear to their hearts. The young Ortega “Tega”
Henderson known in rapper’s Nelly’s posse the St Louis
Lunatics. This young man was involved in a home invasion
just hours ago of his death, and found dead with a
gunshot wound to the head…
Come on our bright stars… god did not give us this
talent to be reckless and careless with it. Our choices
must be taken more in regard!
